Lego Military Troopers: X78, X78/B, and X79

Devid VII's Lego Military Troopers X78

This Military Crew consists of the X78, the X78/B and the X79. These guys are sporting some of the best power armor out there. The X78 is a larger hard suit, perfect for tanking, that accommodates a Minifigure sitting down. Outfitted with a large rifle this guy is ready to fight. The X79 is the smaller armor, which makes it much more nimble. This power armor comes with rocket launchers and an automatic weapon. Finally the X78/B is an alternate version of the X78. This time accommodating a standing position, and a little bit more armor. These three Military Troopers are the work of Devid VII. Who shows off some excellent Minifigure scale building techniques. Check out how the standard legs are removed and the power armor is incorporated into the torso. Allowing a more realistic appearance (knees!)

New Prime Minister of England Lady Margo Hatchet: The Iron Lady

HammersteinNWC's The Iron Lady

“The Year is 1872 – England is a battlefield.

From within the smoking hulk of Parliament a woman has (literally) fought her way to the top.

As the New Prime Minister of England Lady Margo Hatchet seeks to quell the rebellious Unions of the North.

The Proletariat are revolting (at least that is what she says), and the “Iron Lady” is intent on once more making Britain ‘Great’ but this time with herself as Commander in Chief and a puppet Monarch to do her rubber stamp her authority. Privilege and Wealth must be restored at all costs.” — Hammerstein NWC

The Iron Lady is the creation of Hammerstein NWC. This lady happens to be loosely based on the real life Margaret Thatcher. This delightfully creative Lego duo is made even better by a fun backstory. After reading the few paragraphs, a whole story and world is imagined where The Iron Lady can make sense. A few of the details here really add to the whole story too. The gigantic fists, chromed swords, power armor all come together perfectly. Margo Hatchet’s robot companion, Goliath, is also ready to stomp out evil. Just don’t tell it that it has been made out of genie lamps, waiting trays, clockwork, and other random Lego parts.

“Lady Margo is armed with twin powerfists, knuckle duster, The holy sword of Westminister and a Titanium Cricket Bat gifted to her by W. G. Grace himself from the Long Room Armory at Lords”

Bobsuit: A Tiny Lego Mech Suit

Bowbrick's Bobsuit, A Tiny Lego Mech Suit

Just look at this guy (Bob?). Look how happy he is. He should be too. With that super expensive mech suit he has on. The Bobsuit is a perfect example of a tiny mech suit in the minifigure scale. All the Lego clips, bricks, and bits come together in a very detailed suit. Working at this scale is not easy, and some of the connections on this Bobsuit look extremely delicate. Still, Bob looks happy and that is what matters.

The Bobsuit was created by Bowbrick, and can be found on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thebowmanator/9468661798/

The Iron Man: Hulkbuster Project

Jonsanpedro's Iron Man Hulkbuster Project

In the Marvel universe every superhero will have to fight the Hulk at least once. Hulk vs. Thor, Hulk vs. Wolverine, Hulk vs. Juggernaut… the DC Comics superheroes are not immune to the Hulk with Hulk vs. Superman, and Hulk vs. Batman. Even Iron Man has had his share of Hulk fights. In such a fight, Tony Stark usually comes prepared and brings out his custom Hulk fighting armor… the Hulkbuster!

Jonsanpedro's Iron Man Hulkbuster Project 2

Jonsanpedro has created a project for an official Lego Iron Man: Hulkbuster set over at the Lego Cuusoo page. The Hulkbuster proposed in this project is an amalgamation of  many suits. This particular version is an exoskeleton that fits over the standard Iron Man armor.

This build merges together two of the most popular Lego themes out there. Iron Man and Mech suits, creating a huge fan base. This Hulkbuster is fully posable with multiple articulation points. Even the little Iron Man minifigure nestles in and become the “head” of the Mech. These details create a build that has a huge amount of charm and personality. Just look at this photo of Iron Man and Pepper Potts…

Lego Stark Industries Armory / Iron Man Hall of Armor

becauseBATMAN's Stark Industries Armory, Iron Man Hall of Armor

The Iron Man Hall of Armor has proven to be a very popular Lego MOC build, even Lego has offered an official version of their own. From the small to the big, each MOC has its own charm. This version of the Hall of Armor is amazingly complete. Coming in at 5 stories, 4 of which store Iron Man suits, this build has to be one of the most ambitious. The first floor features Tony Starks lab, and the top floors contain the workshop, and even storage for a huge Hulkbuster Suit.

What makes this build impressive is the massive amount of custom Iron Man minifigures. With 31 unique suits of armor, Tony Stark must feel like a kid in a candy store. Custom Iron Man minifigures are practically a whole separate genre of custom minifigs at this point. Some of the best work is coming out of this theme.

Some of the custom minifigures featured in the Stark Industries Armory are: Stealth Artillery Suit, Silver Centurion Mk. 2, Deep Space Suit, Enhanced Reactor suit, Prototype Stealth suit,  Hot Rod Red, Deep Sea Hydro suit, Long Distance suit, Silver Centurion retro-inspired suit, Hyper Velocity suit, War Machine 2.0 prototype suit, Prometheum-armor inspired suit, War Machine Heavy Duty, Godkiller armor, Bleeding Edge armor,  “Bones,” War Machine, Mk. 42 prototype, Mk. 42, Iron Patriot, Radiation-zone suit, Super Stealth suit, “Shotgun”, “Gemini”, and “Heartbreaker.”

This build is actually a revised version. Another whole version of the Armory was built that originally showed more of the Hulkbuster. For all the details of becauseBATMAN’s Lego Stark Industries Armory / Iron Man Hall of Armor, check it out on Eurobricks: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82642

StarCraft Marine

Luis Castenada's Lego StarCraft Marine

“You wanna piece of me, boy?”

There are many units from StarCraft and the Space Marine is the most basic Terran infantry unit. Just put him in a bunker and watch him rain death.

This little guy is a very impressive MOC by Luis Castenada. He has been made with an assortment of Lego parts, mostly Hero Factory, mixed in with normal Lego pieces. Although criticized for their lack of usefulness, the Hero Factory Lego parts pop up from time to time in amazing builds. Here they are used in great effect to create the Marines Pressurized Power Suit. The C-14 rifle is also a great example of the standard Lego bricks being put to good use, and looks like it could take out a few hundred Zerg. The only non-Lego piece is the face, which is a painted custom part.

In the past few years this Lego StarCraft Marine has gotten around, even appearing on the cover of BrickJournal: Issue 17. You can check him out on Mark Stafford’s Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nabii/8720550117/

“Outstanding!”

H.U.L.K. Exo Suit

TrapleS’s HULK Exo Suit

Ever since Aliens, the dream of a working Exo Suit has taken up many a person. Although still a few years away from that reality, you can build your own mecha in Lego.

That’s what Flickr user TrapleS did with his H.U.L.K. Exo Suit. Every single piece of this MOC is beyond me. The scifi robot genre of Lego builds is incredibly technically advanced. Just look at all those Technic parts, pins, and joints. All of these pieces come together in a very expressive mecha suit.

Lego Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack Reviewed

CaptainNemo’s Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack

Just in time for the new release of Iron Man 3 comes a new Lego set. This one focusing on what might be the definitive scene from the film. This set comes with 5 minifigs, Tony Stark, Iron Man in Mark 42 armor, Pepper Potts, the Mandarin, and an Extremis soldier. That is a lot of figures for such a set. The Malibu mansion is a super abbreviated version from the film, containing a workshop, hall of armor, and a kitchen. Lego has done a great job with their Super Heroes line. LEGO Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack (76007) is currently for sale on Amazon too.

Captain Nemo over at Eurobricks posted a great review of the Lego Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack.
