Lego Frozen: Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle (41062) Review

Lego Frozen: Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle 41062 Box Reviewed, mostlytechnic

Lego has the ability to make and sell Disney Frozen themed sets, and yet they only have one release so far. It seems that anything with the Frozen logo is instantly popular, and sells out in no time. This theme is a license to print money. The first Lego set is called Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle (41062), it is $39.99 and has 292 pieces. There are also three exclusive figures: Elsa, Anna, and Olaf. The piece to part ratio is extremely high, making this one of the more expensive sets for what you get. So is the Frozen Castle worth it? Check out the full review, by mostlytechnic, over on Eurobricks: here.

Lego Frozen: Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle 41062 Set Reviewed, mostlytechnic

The full set is actually a bit different then what you would expect. The design of the castle does not reflect what is in the film, and is a weird white and transparent blue. This is more of a Frozen mountain then a castle. But, for most people that won’t matter, because the figures are what they want. And, Lego really went all out. The resemblance to their movie counterpart is extremely close for Lego figures. Elsa and Anna look good in Lego. Olaf looks good, but is not as special.

Lego Minifigures Series 12 Review (71007) by WhiteFang

Whitefang Lego Minifigures Series 12 Review

Lego is back with an all new release of their Collectible Minifigures theme. There are a total of sixteen unique Minifigs in the Lego Collectible Minifigures Series 12.
With a recent departure to do some spinoff (The Lego Movie, and The Simpsons) it is good to see Lego pick up where they left off. These new figures will be available in October, although if you are lucky you may find them in stores now. This new series is by far the most detailed, with a whole lot of fancy new sculpts and printing. The only bad news is that Lego has carried over the higher price point that was first used in The Simpsons, $3.99. This feels like the maximum price Lego can sell these for.

One new thing about this release is that every figure comes with a code to activate itself on Lego Minifigures Online.

Whitefang Lego Minifigures Series 12 Complete Set

A super detailed review of each figure has been posted by WhiteFang over on Eurobricks. These reviews have earned their reputation for greatness. You cannot find a better review anywhere. In each box of Series 12 you will find 3 complete sets of Minifigures. Lego seems to be doing a better job of choosing which ones are the most wanted. With the most common being: Video Game Guy (5), Space Miner (5), and Swashbuckler (5). The uncommon Minifigs are: Wizard (4), Battle Goddess (4), Dino Tracker (4), Pizza Delivery Guy (4), Rock Star (4), and Piggy Guy (4). Finally, the rare figures are: Hun Warrior (3), Fairytale Princess (3), Lifeguard (3), Prospector (3), Jester (3), Genie Girl (3), and Spooky Girl (3). The biggest surprise here is that the Princess is a rare figure, with the recent popularity of the Disney Princess Lego theme it doesn’t make sense.

The best thing about these figures is that everyone has a different favorite. As for me, I will spend my time looking for a Gamer (and maybe a Wizard).

The Lego House (4000010) Special Edition Review by CopMike

CopMike Review: The Lego House 4000010 Box

Lego has a super rare set out now called The Lego House (4000010) Special Edition. The set is designed to fit in with the Architecture theme, but is not officially a part of it. What makes this a Special Edition is that it is only sold in Billund, Denmark. Which is the upcoming location of The Lego House. The set is 250 pieces and sold for 149 DKK, which is currently about $27.50.

The Lego House is currently being built in Billund, which is where the Lego Group was founded in 1932. The building will be part museum, and part educational experience (and I’m sure part gift shop).

CopMike Review: The Lego House 4000010 Box Back

CopMike has recently gotten their hands on The Lego House, and posted a full review over on Eurobricks. The set comes with a perfect-bound soft-cover instruction manual, an exclusive (boring) Minifigure, and a bunch of white and trans-clear parts. In fact, two new 1×1 trans clear flat tiles. The final set is not the most exciting, but the limited availability and exclusive Minifig help make up for the design.

Lego Simpsons Minifigures Review (71005) by WhiteFang

WhiteFang's Lego Simpsons Minifigures Review

The newest Lego Minifigures Series is almost here. The Lego Simpsons Minifigures will be available for sale in May, at a price point of $3.99. All 16 Minifigs include unique head sculpts and in most cases new accessories. There is a whole lot of printed pieces in this series. Even though the Minifig heads are definitely Simpsons their bodies and parts mix and match pretty well with other themes. WhiteFang has just posted an early Lego Simpsons Minifigures Review over on Eurobricks.

WhiteFang's Lego Simpsons Minifigures Review 03

Each box of the Lego Simpsons will include at least 3 complete sets of Minifigures. The Simpsons family makes up the most common Minifigs, and the smaller characters are the rarest. There are 5 Homer Simpsons, 5 Marge Simpsons, 5 Bart Simpsons, 4 Lisa Simpsons, 4 Maggie Simpsons, 4 Krusty the Clowns, 4 Ned Flanders, 4 Itchys, and 4 Scratchys. The hard to find characters come in sets of 3, with Grandpa Simpson, Apu, Mr. Burns, Nelson, Clancy Wiggum, Ralph Wiggum, and Milhouse. This is probably the best assortment. It favors the whole family, but doesn’t make any of the other character extremely rare. Luckily all of these Minifigs should be pretty easy to feel inside the packaging, as each character is unique.

WhiteFang's Lego Simpsons Minifigures Review 04

Lego spent a lot of time creating these new Minifigs and it shows. The attention to detail, and fan references in these Minifigs are all perfect. The one exception is that the fat characters (Homer, Wiggum, and Krusty) look a little bit weird with the default Lego body. It looks like everyone has been on some amazing diet. It would be interesting to see the stomach piece from the Hobbit theme be appropriated here. Still you can sign me up for a whole set. They will look great with the Simpsons House.

Lego Simpsons House Officially Revealed (71006), with Design Video

Lego Simpsons Couch Gag

Lego has officially announced set 71006: The Simpsons House. With 2,523 pieces and 6 minifigures the $199.99 price tag is a little bit cheaper then most people expected. If you need a whole lot of beige, teal, and brown this set would be a great one to part out. The most surprising reveal is the release date, expect to see these around this February. Also, coming this spring will be a full Collectable Minifigures series, and a special Lego Simpsons episode in May.

Lego Simpsons House Interior Details 71006

Lego Simpsons House 71006 Gif

The Lego Simpsons House (71006) will include minifigures for Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie Simpson and next door neighbor Ned Flanders. They have a fully decorated interior to play around in. With a family room, kitchen, garage, Bart and Lisa’s bedrooms, the Master bedroom, and two bathrooms. Even the iconic pink station wagon is included. The whole set is modular with removable roof, and floors. Also, the house can open to the side with hinges.

Simpsons House Lego Barts Room

Lego has put a whole lot of references and detail into this set. With Krusty the clown posters, Radioactive Man comics, Bart’s red hat, a TV with Itchy and Scratchy playing, family photos, a plutonium rod, borrowed furniture, El Barto graffiti, etc. This attention to detail is awesome and really helps to sell the Simpsons House. The biggest problem that Lego has here is that the minifigures are a hard sell. They made a decision to include weird half open “tired” eyes on four of the minifigures. Although it adds some personality to the playset everyone ends up looking like they are stoned. Argh. If I had to guess why Lego did this, I would say that the “open” eye minifigs will be in the upcoming Simpsons Collectable Minifigure series. Having to rebuy four minifigures at $2.99 is asking a lot. Ay, caramba!

Check out the official Lego Designers Video to see the Simpsons House in action. They spend a good amount of time showing the design process for the minifigures too.

The Lego Simpsons House 71006 Box

Carlos S is back with another leaked photo from the upcoming Lego Simpsons House (71006). This time showing off what looks like the back of the box. Showcasing all the details and features. The interior is fully furnished which greatly adds variety to the more plain exterior. All the famous rooms are here. The family room with couch and TV, the kitchen, the various bedrooms, and even a nicely detailed garage. The pink car that the Simpsons drive is even present. 742 Evergreen Terrace certainly looks interesting. Lego has never really released something like this.

Lego The Simpsons, The Simpsons House 71006

An official Lego Simpsons theme has been rumored for a while now. It seems that the current plan is to release one huge Simpsons themed set in 2014, and a whole wave of collectible minifigures. The good news is that huge set has just been revealed. Carlos S, of Eurobricks, recently leaked a box photo of the Simpsons House. This is a huge set. With 2523 pieces and 5 minifigures it is looking like this set will be priced around $200-$250. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Flanders are all included with unique head sculpts. The translation from 2D to 3D can be a little funny, but these figures look very similar to the popular Simpsons Action Figures from 2001-2004.

This theme is being marketed to teenagers and adults. Which means that the build is detailed. The whole house will be modular with removable floors and roof, and can even be opened from the side. What is inside are currently unknown, but if you look at the leaked box photo closely, you can see that it will be furnished. The details here look to be very accurate to the show. Check out the photo below from the television show for comparison.

Now if you will excuse me, I’m going to watch a million Simpsons episodes on DVD.

Lego Minifigures (71004) The Lego Movie Series Reviewed by WhiteFang

WhiteFang's Lego Minifigures, The Lego Movie Series Box

The new Lego Minifigures (71004) The Lego Movie Series is about to hit store shelves. WhiteFang has done a full detailed photo review over on Eurobricks. This new series is a slight departure from the normal Lego Collectible Minifigures. This is the first series to focus on one theme. Here it is the upcoming Lego Movie. It has been assumed that this would be Series 12 of these Minifigs, but there is no mention of a series number anywhere on the packaging. Instead Lego has made slight design changes to call it “The Lego Movie.” WhiteFang notes that we won’t be able to get a definitive answer on the nomenclature until the either Series 12 or Series 13 shows up. And, who knows where the upcoming Simpsons Minifigures will fit in.

WhiteFang's Lego Minifigures, The Lego Movie Series

The Lego Movie Series contains a whole lot of personality. The Lego heads (faces) are all new, with a wide variety of happy and angry expressions. Combined with some of the new hair pieces means that this set will blend in well with other Lego minifigures. It looks like Emmet, President Business, Scribble-Face Bad Cop, and the Panda Guy are the common minifies this time around. With Calamity Drone, Mrs. Scratchen-Post, William Shakespeare, Gail the Construction Worker, Velma Staplebot, and Marsha the Queen of the Mermaids being the rare figures.

This series contains 16 minifigures: Calamity Drone, Gail the Construction Worker, Abraham Lincoln, Larry the Barista, Panda Guy, Velma Staplebot, William Shakespeare, Taco Tuesday Guy, “Where are my pants?” Guy, Wiley Fusebot, President Buisness, Wild West Wyldstyle, Hard Had Emmet, Scribbe-Face Bad Cop, Mrs. Scratchen-Post, and Marsha the Queen of the Mermaids.

Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu Rebooted for 2014

Lego Ninjago Rebooted Poster

Ninjago is back for 2014. They have been on a bit of a hiatus since the debut of Lego Legends of Chima. Lego has repeatedly said that Ninjago would be coming back, and the new wave looks like it will be focusing on Robotics / Androids. This has easily been the craziest Lego theme in years. Often featuring Ninjas fighting dragons, skeletons, lizards, reptiles, and demons. Now the Masters of Spinjitzu can add Nindroids, the robotic ninja villains to that list. Convenient as it was recently reveled that Zane happens to be a Nindroid. These new sets are keeping Ninjago crazy busy.

Lego Ninjago Kai Fighter 70721

Lego Ninjago Kai Fighter (70721) looks like Kai and General Cryptor will fight it out with a Ninja (Jet) Fighter.

Lego Ninjago OverBorg Attack 70722

Lego Ninjago OverBorg Attack (70722) will feature Lloyd and OverBorg fighting with motorcycles.

Lego Ninjago Tunder Raider 70723

Lego Ninjago Thunder Raider (70723) will feature Cole and Jay taking on a Nindroid.  Cole’s Earth Mech looks pretty nifty.

There are also rumors of an additional four sets coming in 2014. Nindroid Mechanical Dragon (70725), Air Breaks (70720), NinjaCopter (70724), and Destroyers (70726).  It will be interesting to see how weird these new sets will be.

Lego Star Wars: Jabba’s Sail Barge (75020) Reviewed by Csacsa234 @ Eurobricks

Csacsa234's Lego Star Wars Jabba's Sail Barge 75020 Review 01

The new Lego Star Wars: Jabba’s Sail Barge (75020) has officially been released and is starting to show up at some retailers. This set comes with 4 minifigures (Slave Leia, Max Rebo, Weequay, and Ree-Yees), 1 bigfigure (Jabba the Hutt) and 1 droid (R2D2). It contains many hidden play features, and some nice details. Jabba’s Sail Barge comes in at 850 pieces and a $119.99 price tag. Which is a good deal cheaper then the previous Jabba’s Sail Barge (6210) on the secondary market.

Eurobricks user Csacsa234 has already posted a full photo review. Noting that there are hidden pirate cannons, flick firing missiles, undercarriage wheels, a removable deck/roof, and foldable sides/walls. This set is full of play features.

Csacsa234's Lego Star Wars Jabba's Sail Barge 75020 Review 02

Inside Jabba’s Sail Barge is a kitchen, jail, throne room, and a music stage. Max Rebo and his futuristic piano (or is it an organ?) steal the show from Jabba in this set. He just happens to be a perfect Lego minifigure, oozing cuteness and a hot blue color scheme. Interestingly, Lego has provided film (thin plastic) sails for the Sail Barge which will hopefully last a long time. There are also 26 stickers, which luckily are not required. Jabba’s Sail Barge looks great with and without stickers.

Csacsa234's Lego Star Wars Jabba's Sail Barge 75020 Review 03

The Lego minifigures are extremely detailed. With a newish version of R2D2 (grey top, and better printing), Slave Leia, Jabba the Hutt, Ree-Yees, Weequay, and Max Rebo. While the Jabba the Hutt and his goons look great the real star is Max Rebo (sorry Leia). Just look at that little blue dude.
