Out On A Walk With The Space Buds

Out On A Walk With The Space Buds

Nothing is better than stretching some robot legs and going for a walk. Especially when you are cooped up in a space station all day. This pair of Space Buds is created by bluebrick. Created as an entry into Vignweek 2020, a space themed Lego vignette challenge. These two astronauts are just hanging out in their high tech powered walkers. The walkers are the focus of this Lego MOC, and they are surprisingly detailed. The feet in particular are huge compared to their Minifigure pilots. You would probably have a hard time pushing these over. The legs are topped off with pilot seats. Safety seems to be a priority as each pilot is encased by the walker, they have a heavy duty steering system, and even headrests. The build is finished with a super simple SNOT style base.

The Sandstorm IV — A Lego Mech

The Sandstorm IV — A Lego Mech

This is the Sandstorm IV, a Lego Mech created by Joe. This deadly robot has been optimized for dry climates and deserts. A wide stance, and large feet help it move in the shifting sands. With a yellow and white paint job that helps it to blend into its surroundings. The contrast between the white and dark parts means that it can be hard to see the pilot. They are present and ready for battle. This is a really interesting Lego Mech. The overall design looks very sleek. It features a mechanical look with some excellent greebling. The few extra hoses and vent / grill pieces help make this look more believable. Although its feet help it stand, the spindly joints in the hips and knees means that it needs a little bit of support.

Mining For Lego Fuel With EXT01 And Nick

Mining For Lego Fuel With EXT01 And Nick

Nothing is more valuable than fuel. How else can you power your power suit? And, that drone needs a some too. These two are looking for rare proto fuel out on the ice. Mining for Lego fuel is a very explosive and dangerous job. The duo “EXT01 & Nick” is the creation of Devid VII. Nick is all suited up in a Minifigure scale power armor. As usual these Lego builds are very delicate. If you get a closer look at the suit, you can see that there are ski attachments. The joystick design, and clips for feet are also great. Nick will use those joysticks to pilot his accompanying drone named EXT01. A larger unmanned robot, built to do the heavy lifting. These two have great color choices, making them pop out of the white background. They just look so happy to be risking their lives mining for Lego fuel.

STILTwalker, A Lego MOC Mech

tankm Lego Mech STILTwalker

The STILTwalker is a yellow and black Lego MOC. This mech is outfitted with a duel cockpit design. It is held together with Technic Axles, which also allows the body to adjust height by sliding up and down. The walker is controlled with 3 main engines, and 2 smaller “movability” engines. It is outfitted with multiple guns, and even comes equipped with an anime style sword.

This Lego mech was inspired by the gas masks, and would operated in toxic environments. The STILTwalker is the creation of tanks, and you can find more information over on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/54660083@N07/sets/72157669076924714

MFX [F] – Aztech Deity Reborn. A Golden Lego Mech.

Lu Sim's Lego Mech MFX-F Aztech Deity Reborn

Lego has always been a place to create your own Mechs. Even Lego has been officially releasing Mechs from at least 1984. Although the official bots are usually simple, the MOCs people have been creating are breaking new ground, in detail and awesomeness. Check out this golden masterpiece, the MFX [F] – Aztech Deity Reborn. It is the third version of the Diety created by Lu Sim. This version features a golden body, with black frame. And, if you look close enough, a little bit of red. The other big change is going with a thinner, more “feminine” type mech. This golden god is just awesome.

These Bad Binary Bitches Will Reprogram You

Andrew Lee's Lego Bad Binary Bitches

Lego and Robots are a very popular genre of Lego MOCs. This robot duo are known as the Bad Binary Bitches (that is some good alliteration). Check out their use of various clips and hinges. They are also a great place to show off new and cutting edge Lego building techniques.  Especially the use of the Lego Minifigure back connector used in the legs. The use of stickers (custom!) help lend these robot ladies some personality. They may be tough, but they certainly look delicate. They are standing on Lego wrenches after all.

A Lego BattleTech Robot, The Mad Cat

ccy's Lego BattleTech Mad Cat

Some of the most iconic mechs ever designed belong to BattleTech (MechWarrior). Some of the most popular BattleMechs are the Warhammer, Locust, Catapult, Marauder, Summoner (Thor), and arguably the Urbanmech. The most famous is the Mad Cat (Timber Wolf) mech. This mech is usually on the over of BattleTech books, and used in all sorts of promotional stuff. It also happens to be one of the best BattleMechs, a “jack of all trades” model. It packs a deadly arsenal, while preserving the agility of the smaller mechs. Flickr user “ccy” has created an extremely accurate Lego BattleTech Mad Cat. All of the weapons are present, the Gauss Rifles, LRM-10s, and the ER Medium Lasers. Even the iconic chicken legs are recreated perfectly in Lego.

ccy's Lego BattleTech Mad Cat Detail

The only thing that is compromised in this Lego Mad Cat is the cockpit. In the source material the cockpit is rather large, taking up most of the center body space. Lego has a vast selection of cockpit pieces but there are not very many oversized options. The awesome thing is that in the Lego model the cockpit (although smaller) looks great. There is even room for a pilot.

The Ultra Violet, a Deadly Lego Friends Mecha

MarkStafford Lego Friends Mecha Ultra Violet

The official Lego Friends sets can be a bit limiting. They are completely rooted in a city theme, with no signs of expanding into the other Lego themes (Pirates, Space, etc.) A great way to work around this is to create your own Lego creations. One of the best features about Lego is just how modular the pieces are, almost every Lego part can be used with another Lego part. Mark Stafford used his imagination and created a sci-fi themed Lego Friends mecha titled the Ultra Violet. The best part of these MOCs is the innovative use of obscure Lego pieces. Check out the pink baskets, lipsticks, telephones, lightsaber beams, and wood panels. Check out the Friends section for more examples of this.

Lego Friends Hardsuits: Blacktron and M-Tron themed Power Armor

colgs3b's Lego Friends Hardsuit, Blacktron Olivia

Science Fiction and the Lego Friends make for a strange combination that works well. Flickr user, colgs3b, has been building a whole series of Hardsuits for the Friends. These mechas appear to be in scale with the other Lego Friends figures. But you wont find them tending horses of farming. Although they may train in Karate during their off time. The first of the Hardsuit Friends is Blacktron Olivia. Using theming elements from the classic Lego Blacktron, Olivia looks like someone you would not want to mess with.

Olivia is not fighting alone. Her mother is also on the front lines wielding a massive gun and a deceptively friendly pink and teal paint scheme.

Hardsuit Stephanie is also present. With a purple and teal and yellow suit. Stephanie appears to be able to fly. Making her extremely dangerous.

When in danger the strongest Hardsuits are needed to hold the front line. Here M-Tron Mia is ready to defend against anything. Make sure to be very careful as her magnet technology is extremely deadly.

Lego Friends Mech, Bone Crushingly Cool

bermudafreze's Lego Friends Mech

The Lego Friends have been finding themselves in all sorts of Lego MOCs lately. Especially in the Space or Science Fiction theme. Bermudafreze, of Flickr, has build this deadly Lego Friends Mech. The Mech features a gatling gun, a massive clamp, missiles and bone crushing treads. In fact the treads are especially nice, built out of ball joint pieces. That idea looks great in this build. This mech unit is ready for whatever is thrown at it.
